Prague´s architectural jewels

Sometimes we have a short time to explore a city, or we just want to get to know the most famous and typical things that people remember from a given destination. So let's take a walk through a part of Prague that will show you the most beautiful or most important places of the Czech capital in a nutshell.

Do you want to know what makes Prague so unique? Why it is called magical or if it really has a hundred towers? Under the protection of what forces is Charles Bridge or where is the mysterious Golem from the old tales hiding? You will learn all this and much more on this tour.

Meeting point

The meeting is at the Powder Gate on the Square of the Republic, near the roundabout (see photo and map).

Duration

2,5 - 3 hours

Departure times

Tuesdays 9am, 10am, 11am, 1pm

Wednesday 9am, 10am

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9am, 10am, 11am, 1pm

We'll start at the Powder Tower, one of the few remnants of the old city's original fortifications, and we'll pass through not only the bustling parts of the Old Town, but also the narrow winding streets that are so typical of it.

The road we are going to take was in the past the so-called Royal route, where the coronation, funeral or ceremonial processions of Czech rulers passed. This route is lined with a number of artistic monuments and various architectural styles that have been preserved in Prague and that bridge centuries.

Our only one detour from the royal route will be to see some of the well-preserved monuments in the Jewish Quarter (Josefov). It is situated in newly reconstructed part of the town, and this part of the city still hides centuries-old synagogues and a mysterious Jewish cemetery.

We will then head to Charles Bridge, which offers a beautiful panorama of Prague Castle. This destination will be in front of us until we reach it via Nerudova Street or the castle stairs. Here, at the grounds of the biggest castle area, our walk finishes.
